About

The Calgary Nordic Alliance supports reliable and accessible Nordic recreation and training opportunities for Calgarians – right here in the heart of our city. If you love quick access to Nordic skiing – without having to leave the city, then you will love what we are about: advocacy and support for Nordic sports here in Calgary.

We support local operators through fundraising and volunteer recruitment. The Calgary Nordic Alliance is the united voice representing the collective interests of Nordic clubs, retailers, partners and other supporters and the need for Nordic facilities (cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined) in Calgary – acting as a single point of contact with policy makers, landowners, funders and other stakeholders. Nordic sport access within the city fosters active, fun communities.

The Calgary Nordic Alliance became a society in June 2017.

We are here to advocate for Nordic facility access and to support local facility operations. Local volunteer-led, non-profit clubs: Shaganappi Nordic Operations maintain ski trails at the City of Calgary’s Shaganappi Point Golf Course and Foothills Nordic Ski Club at Confederation Park Golf Course (through their operating agreements with the city). Thousands of volunteer hours are required each year to bring ski trails to Calgarians. These clubs need to reach beyond their member-bases to support reliable operations for the benefit of all Calgarians.

This is where we need you. Check out our Volunteer and Donate pages to see how you can be a part of ensuring Nordic sport access right here in the city.
